Structure-antioxidative activity relationships in benzylisoquinoline alkaloids.
The antioxidative properties of the aporphines boldine, glaucine and apomorphine, and of the benzyltetrahydroisoquinolines (+/-)-coclaurine and (+/-)-norarmepavine were compared in the brain homogenate autoxidation model. The IC50 values found lay in the 16-20 microM range for the aporphines and were 131.7 microM, and 79.3 microM for coclaurine and norarmepavine, respectively. These results ind...
متن کاملTubulin-based structure-affinity relationships for antimitotic Vinca alkaloids.
The Vinca alkaloids are a group of widely used anticancer drugs, originally extracted from the Madagascar periwinkle, that disrupt microtubule dynamics in mammalian cells by interfering with proper assembly of α,β-tubulin heterodimers. They favor curved tubulin assemblies that destabilize microtubules and induce formation of spiral aggregates. Their binding energy profiles have been characteriz...
متن کاملAntiproliferative and Structure Activity Relationships of Amaryllidaceae Alkaloids.
The antiproliferative activity of a set of seven natural Amaryllidaceae alkaloids and 32 derivatives against four cancer cell lines (A2780, SW1573, T47-D and WiDr) was determined. The best antiproliferative activities were achieved with alkaloids derived from pancracine (2), haemanthamine (6) and haemantidine (7). For each skeleton, some structure-activity relationships were outlined.
متن کاملIn vitro cytotoxicity of polyindolenine alkaloids on rat hepatoma cell lines. Structure activity relationships.
New groups of polyindolenine alkaloids have been isolated from new species of the tribe Psychotriae (Rubiaceae). The cyto-inhibitory effects of these compounds on tumoral cell lines have been thoroughly investigated and thus allow the statement of relationships between some original structural patterns and the observed biological effects.
متن کاملAn Investigation on the Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationships of the Anti-Inflammatory Activity of Diterpenoid Alkaloids.
Diterpenoid alkaloids are extracted from plants. These compounds have broad biological activities, including effects on the cardiovascular system, anti-inflammatory and analgesic actions, and anti-tumor activity. The anti-inflammatory activity was determined by carrageenan-induced rat paw edema and experimental trauma in rats. The number of studies focused on the determination, quantitation and...
